Bjni Fortress

Bjni Fortress was founded in the early Middle Ages. In the 10th century, the fortress was reconstructed and strengthened by the efforts of the princes of Pahlavuni: protected by inaccessible rocks and 12-15 meters high double walls, the fortress acquires strategic and economic importance. The fortress was ruled by Zakaryan princes from the 13th century. It was repeatedly invaded and destroyed, especially by the Seljuk Turks and Mongols, and was finally deserted in the 17th century. Most of the walls, a secret passage, as well as the ruins of many buildings of different significance have been preserved
