Overview
Every year, during the pine pollination season (late May to early June), visitors rush to the Stepanavan Arboretum to enjoy the nature and healing air here. In the summer, you can cool off from the summer heat in the arboretum. And in general, in any season you can walk along the beautiful alleys, breathe the oxygen-rich air and have a picnic.
On the way to the Arboretum is located Tormakavank Church, and you can take a nice photo shoot in the alley near it. From Tormakavank, the route reaches to the Saint Nicholas Church in Amrakits village, which belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church and is unique in its architecture.
The next stop of the excursion is the Lori Berd Fortress, which was one of the most powerful fortresses in medieval Armenia. From the territory of the fortress a wonderful view opens up to the gorges of rivers Dzoraget and Urut. From the Lori Berd you can go down to the Urut Gorge, where the Miskhana Bridge of the 11th-12th centuries has been preserved.
On the way back to Yerevan, you can also visit the Armenian Alphabet Monument.
