- Urtsadzor, Ararat
- From Yerevan 61 km
- May - Nov
The horseback riding starts from the village of Urtsadzor, where you will be greeted by the horses and the local guide. After getting acquainted, an appropriate horse is selected for each participant. The horseback riding starts in the morning, as the route is quite long.
After leaving the village, the route passes through the fields of Urtsadzor, after which some part continues on a dirt road, along the bed of the Vedi river up. Then the route crosses the river, from where the relief changes sharply. The fields and the dirt road are replaced by a narrow mountain path and an ascent to the Tasanord Mountains. Here, behind the heights, wonderful views of the deep gorges and surrounding mountains are hidden, and the higher you go, the more complete and fascinating the view becomes. Here, the area borders the “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve, where the Caucasian leopard, bezoar goat, brown bear, wolf and other wild animals are found. It is a wonderful opportunity to observe animals and birds with binoculars.
The ascent ends at the foot of the Tasanord Mountains, where there is a wide and flat terrain where you can rest and have a picnic.
From here, the route continues along a narrow mountain path and comes out to a place where off-road cars can reach. The road gradually descends to the village of Urtsadzor. The relief is suitable for galloping. Оn the way, you can see Mount Ararat and a wonderful panorama opens to the surroundings.
It should be noted that all horses are physically ready and trained to overcome such a difficult route. Participants just need to trust their horses and the experienced guide.
This horseback riding is intended for those with riding experience and adventure lovers.
The duration of the route is 7-8 hours, the length is 23-25 km.
