  • From Yerevan 52 km
  • Jan - Dec

Angels' Canyon is one of the unique natural monuments of Armenia, which impresses with its appearance and mystery. This golden canyon is hidden in the semi-desert area surrounding the Vedi city.

Angels' Canyon is a small and narrow canyon about 50 m long and 6-7 m high. The slopes of the canyon are vertical cliffs of yellow sandstone, which consist of horizontal layers.
This geological layer began to form 60 million years ago, when the process of weathering of the oceanic crust began in this area. Then the Kotuts River flowed here, the flow of which over time created the Angels' Canyon. Due to water scarcity, the river has not flowed for many years. It is noticeable that the bottom of the canyon is covered with river sand and stones polished by the river.

On the way to the Angels' Canyon, there are two impressive natural monuments.
The first one is located next to the canyon - Arch of Angels. It is a natural arch made of golden sandstone, which impresses with its bright yellow color. The arch was formed as a result of weathering.
Another natural monument is called Stone Book and is located on the road to the Angels' Canyon, about 2 km away. This is a huge cliff, which as a result of weathering has cracked and looks like an open book.

Angels' Canyon is accessible in all seasons of the year. The horseback riding to the Angels' Canyon is very impressive. It is also a wonderful destination for light hiking lovers.
