Hiking Astghik and Vahagn waterfalls

  • Khosrov State Reserve, Kotayk
  • From Yerevan 75 km
  • Jan - Dec

Hiking to Astghik and Vahagn waterfalls of Khosrov Reserve.

The hiking starts from the Garni village. Before the start, a visit to the pagan temple of Garni awaits, from where opens up magnificent view of the Azat Gorge and the Khosrov Nature Reserve. From the Garni Temple, the route leads to the Symphony of Stones natural monument, after which hikers will cross the Azat River on the medieval Garni Bridge and enter the Khosrov Reserve. This is where the wildlife begins, where unique plants and animals are found.
Deep in the reserve, at an altitude of 1500-1600 meters above sea level, two natural wonders are hidden: Astghik and Vahagn waterfalls. The waterfalls are located very close to each other and both are named after the ancient Armenian gods. Astghik is the goddess of love and beauty, and Vahagn is the god of courage and war.

The hiking passes mostly along flat terrain.
The route length is 20 km.
