Astghik Waterfall is one of the 4 waterfalls in the Khosrov Reserve. It is hidden deep in the reserve, in the forest. The waterfall's flow is formed by the confluence of cold springs. The water cascades down from a height of about 10 meters, fills the natural pool formed below, and then merges with the river.
The waterfall is named after the goddess Astghik, the goddess of love and beauty in ancient Armenian mythology. According to legend, the goddess Astghik bathed under the waterfall every evening. Astghik corresponds to the Greek Aphrodite and the Roman Venus.
Astghik Waterfall is one of the most beautiful places in the Khosrov Reserve. Vahagn Waterfall is located nearby. This destination is very popular among hikers.
