Horseback riding from Garni Gorge to Havuts Tar Monastery

The horseback riding tour starts from the Garni gorge, near the "Symphony of Stones" natural monument. Then the route should cross the Azat river and continue in the "Khosrov Forest" state reserve. Experienced participants can cross the Azat river over the medieval Garni bridge, from where a small part of the route continues on a steep narrow path. And those with little horse riding experience will start the tour on a slightly longer, but wide and safe road. Only the initial part of the route has two directions, then both cross and continue on the same route.

The Garni gorge is located in a low-lying area, and the Havuts Tar monastery complex is on the hills on the left bank of the Azat River, so the horseback riding is mostly a slight uphill climbing.

From many parts of the route, and especially from Havuts Tar Monastery, there is a wonderful view of Garni gorge, Garni and Goght villages.

Participants can have a rest in the monastery area, admire the architecture and ornaments of the medieval monastery.

The total length of the route is 8-9 km, and the duration is about 3 hours.
